Conference on Security Sector Reform in the Mano River Union to be Held September 2012
Partners for Democratic Change (PDC) in Washington DC and Partners Senegal recently collaborated on an assessment mission throughout the Mano River Union. The assessment, which took place in Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, and Liberia is in preparation for an upcoming conference on Security Sector Reform in the region in September, supported by the US Department of State. The conference will cover regional security issues affecting the four countries (the three above plus Guinea, which was not visited on this trip due to PDC and Partners Senegal’s extensive work in that country in recent months), and potential solutions to those issues that are democratically supported and citizen-centric. This picture was taken while meeting with the Liberian National Law Enforcement Association (LINLEA) in Monrovia.
